Lockview Website Redesign

Freelance Commission

The Lockview Restaurant

For the Lockview Website Redesign, the restaurant is a local favorite in Akron. The restaurant is known for its good spirits and amazing grilled cheeses. The website for the restaurant was due for a redesign, and the owner, Danny Basone, hired me to redesign the website. It was a wonderful experience getting to work on a local restaurant’s website, especially a personal favorite of mine. Danny was an awesome client and the commission was a satisfying project. The website was redesigned using Wix and all the typefaces were provided by Wix. Please look to the process book for further information regarding the research and methods for building the
new site.

It was agreed from the beginning the website would be designed and based on mobile and smartphone viewing. The majority of the customers placed orders, checked on availability, and asked questions using their smartphones to access the original website. This led to large typeface sizing, minimal high-resolution images, and a focus on easier usage. This proved to make for easier usage by the audience leading to happier customers. The website can quickly load and customers have quicker accessibility to answer their questions.

Home Page

The Home page opens with a welcoming statement and, the logo. Immediately the user has access to the chat icon that allows them to contact the management of the restaurant. The client was very keen on having customers have immediate access to communication. Information regarding hours, to place an order, happy hours, deals, and career opportunities are also present on the home page.

Once leaving the main page, customers just
need to click the logo and it will return them to the home page.

Hours

The client wanted hours to be available all over the site. Including a separate tab. It’s pretty common for the restaurant to get phone calls about hours and other commonly asked questions. Here customers had access to hours on the main google directory, the home page of the restaurant’s website, in the footer, and an additional tab.

Menu

The full menu is available on the website. Including icons that point out dietary options. Rather than creating a whole separate tab for grilled cheeses as the previous website design had, the update kept the full menu on its own page. But grilled cheeses are the first to be viewed and have the primary focus. Access to online ordering and the number to place an order over the phone is available both at the top and bottom of the menu.

Online Menu

The online menu was created with the intention customers can place their orders right there on the site, and click on what they want to be added to the carts. But in order for this to become available the technology within the restaurant needs to be updated. Until then online ordering is available via clicking the ‘“Start Now” button, which will take the customer to a separate site for ordering. The client, Danny also decided to stop using DoorDash, due to customers using primarily phone call orders and or ordering in person.

Spirits

The Lockview restaurant is known primarily for its grilled cheeses, but it also is a popular spot for friends to meet for some drinks. The Lockview provides a broad selection of spirits. The draft menu has quite a few popular favorites, and the wines not only have a great selection but just as good deals. And you can always rely on the bartenders to make perfect cocktails. The Spirit menu also has graphics provided by the library if graphics on Wix. With only a few minor adjustments the graphics were made to be the same color and share a cohesive style.
